Tun Dr Mahathir in his latest blog posting entitled "Respect Malaysia", read here, has written, amongst others:
13. But Najib seems to demand that the world respect Malaysia. What is there for the world to respect about Malaysia.
17. Better still, he should resign and let Malaysia be democratic again. A kleptocracy, a Malaysia ruled by crooks and criminal as alleged by numerous foreigners and their institutions will never gain the respect of the world.
For the sake of argument, lets see some of what happened to Malaysia since 13th General Election:
July 2013: Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited Malaysia.
October 2013: Canada Prime Minister Steven Harper visited Malaysia.
November 2013: President Xi Jinping of China arrived in Malaysia for a three-day official visit. No siting China president had ever visited Malaysia during Tun Dr Mahathir's regime.
April 2014: United State of America (USA) President Barack Obama visited Malaysia in landmark visit. The first USA president to visit Malaysia since 1966. No siting USA president had ever visited Malaysia during Tun Dr Mahathir's regime.
October 2014: Malaysia won a non-permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). 187 out of the total 192 countries voted for Malaysia.
December 2014: Prime Minister DS Najib Tun Razak played golf with USA President Barack Obama.
July 2015: British Prime Minister David Cameron visited Malaysia.
November 2015: USA President Barack Obama visited Malaysia again.
November 2016: Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak visited China. President Xi and DS Najib witnessed signing of deals worth a historic RM144 billion for loans and investments into Malaysia.
November 2016: PM DS Najib visited Japan. Japan gave two patrol boats to Malaysia as gifts.
And for 2017, these have happened so far:
January 2017: The Economist predicts Malaysia to grow faster and maintain 8th fastest growing GDP growth major economy country in the world for 2017.
February 2017: Saudi King visited Malaysia. Invested RM31 billion. No Saudi King had ever visited Malaysia during Tun Dt Mahathir's regime.
March 2017: Tourism Ministry announced that Malaysia received 26,757,392 tourists in 2016 with tourist receipts at RM82.1 billion and this shows an increase of 18.8% compared to 2015,
March 2017: Malaysia voted best country to invest in by BAR and Young & Rubicam.
March 2017: French President Francois Hollande visited Malaysia.
March 2017: United Nation report declared Malaysia officially 4th happiest country in Asia. Malaysia moves up five spots in world’s happiest country index to 42nd happiest country among 155 nations.
March 2017: PM DS Najib visited India. Prime Minister Modi and DS Najib witness signing of deals worth a historic RM157 billion with RM142 billion of projects to be implemented in Malaysia.
March 2017: Malaysia Airports reported that for the first 3 months of 2017, total air passengers have increased 10.5% while non-ASEAN international traffic have increased 14.6% compared to 2016.
April 2017: Malaysia's February exports jump 26.5% - the strongest growth in 7 years.
April 2017: Japan's Crown Prince Naruhito made five-day official visit to Malaysia.
April 2017: Bloomberg placed Malaysia as 11th least miserable country out of 65 countries. The developed countries such as China, USA, UK, Canada, Germany, Australia, New Zealand et cetera are more miserable than Malaysia.
April 2017: World Economic Forum placed Malaysia among the top ten most visited destination in the world.
April 2017: Malaysia's stock market has jumped 7% since the beginning of 2017. An increase of 140 points from 1,617 points on December 23 to 1,756 points as at 21st April.
Well, for minions opposition supporters, judge for yourself if Tun Dr Mahathir is right or wrong that Malaysia is not well-respected.
Tun Dr Mahathir also wrote in the same blog posting that:
3. Currently the world has labelled Malaysia as one of the ten most corrupt country in the world. And there are good reasons for labelling Malaysia corrupt.
Well, In the recently released Corruption Perception Index for 2016 by Transparency International, Malaysia was ranked 55th among 176 countries. Who are we going to trust? Tun Dr Mahathir or Transparency International?
