"The 2004 general election was the best but the 2008 result was the worst which no leader before me had achieved," he said.
Together with positive thinking, he said, the implementation of objectives should also be in order to succeed.
"There are always challenges and lessons. Losing does not matter; there is a blessing behind all these.
He received a memorandum from the NGOs promising support for his leadership as well as a compact disc of a song dedicated to him sung by Jamaludin Elias better known as Nash who is also a member of the event's organising committee.
Abdullah also suggested that Malaysians upgrade their standard of living, adding that there were many opportunities to develop and progress.
He believed that he could help Malaysians, particularly the Malays, adopt a change of attitude and work towards progress.
He said three or four years before former Umno president Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad retired, the latter had apologised in a party meeting stating that he could make many changes but not change the attitude of his race.
"Deep down I had told myself that if I am destined to be the next leader, I would work towards that," he said.
He told the people that one had to change and want to succeed while emulating the struggles of the disabled to live.
Abdullah reiterated the importance of rural youngsters to remain in villages and implement agriculture projects instead of going to big cities in search of wealth but had ended up living in squatters and becoming "Mat Rempit".
"Lots of people have questioned why I gave importance to agriculture at a time when the world was thinking of technology but today the food issue has become serious," he said.
Abdullah ended his speech with three shouts of "Hidup Malaysia" and the people replied with "Hidup Pak Lah."

It was double joy for former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who welcomed his newest granddaughter into the world as he turned 83 yesterday.
Datin Norzieta Zakaria, wife of Datuk Mukhriz Mohamad, gave birth to a baby girl at a specialist hospital here at 5.10pm yesterday.
“The mother and child are both healthy and there were no complications. The whole family is there to visit,” said Azrin Zizal, press secretary to Mukhriz.Congratulation once again from me, Cucu Tok Selampit.
KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will step down as Prime Minister in June 2010 and hand over power to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Abdullah, who is Umno president, said he would seek nomination to contest the party’s top post in the December party elections and Najib, who is his deputy, would go for the number two party post.
He, however, said he would not be leading Barisan Nasional into the next general election because by that time, the country would have Najib as its new Prime Minister.
“I appreciate his friendship and co-operation and we work well together in the party and Government.
“I chose Najib to be my successor because I am confident that he will be able to lead the party well,” he told a press conference yesterday.
Cucu Tok Selampit: It is an ample time for the Flip Flop PM to bury Najib, once and for all. The pharaoh will never leave his crown to somebody else.

“Rogol lain, zina lain.
“Kalaulah benar, Saiful sepatutnya bertindak melawan, bukan membiarkan sahaja,” katanya.
Cucu Tok Selampit: Siapa ni Kamar Ainiah Kamaruzzaman??? Peguam yang setiap hari cari makan dengan kes-kes rumahtangga nak tempelak Tok Guru Nik Aziz dan Mufti Perlis, Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin. Cik Kak, bercita-cita nak jadi Menteri Pembangunan Wanita ke atau Menteri Di Jabatan Perdana Menteri kalau Anwar berkuasa kelak? Siapa awak nak kata pendapat ulamak salah. Anak siapa dia ni?

Anwar lodges report with FT religious department
KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has lodged a report at the Federal Territory Religious Department against Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan saying the 23-year-old former aide has falsely accused him of fornication.
He made the report under Section 41 Qazaf (false accusation) of the Federal Territory Syariah Criminal Offence Act 1997.
Under Section 41, if someone accuses another person of fornication “without providing four male witness or the iqrar (oath) of the person who is accused” the accuser has committed an offence in which he (the accuser) can be fined up to RM5,000 or jailed up to three years or both.
Speaking to reporters Wednesday after he met with Muhammad Ajib, the director-general of the enforcement unit, Anwar said he had made the report under qazaf based on advice from his lawyers and religious scholars to clear his name and that of his family “from this malicious attack on my character.”
“It’s demeaning to me and my family. This slander is a major issue because it involves a sexual crime and attempts to mislead the Muslim population to attack me and my character,” he said adding that the accusation was fabrication and clearly politically motivated.
Early this month, a former PKR volunteer, Saiful, claimed that Anwar had sodomised him at a condominium at Bukit Damansara. He made a police report on the matter.
Saiful also challenged the de facto PKR leader to a mubahalah which is to take an oath before God to show who is telling the truth by seeking God’s curse to befall the lying person.
Anwar who was accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and lawyer Kamar Ainiah Kamaruzaman, said he was prepared to take part in a mubahalah if the ulamak and syariah courts advise him to do so.
“I am leaving it to the Islamic scholars. It is not a question of courage or that I am not prepared to take an oath but because it is a religious issue - not a political game - so I have to be (correctly) advised about it.
“If the ulamak and syariah court advise this needs to done, then I will do it,” he said.
Anwar said Muslim scholars had advised him against doing anything that transgressed Islamic rule.
“This is a criminal offence. It must be investigated. There’s nothing in Islamic law that allows you to take an oath when it is a criminal offence.
“Otherwise a murderer can swear on the Quran and get away scot-free,” he said, adding that this (mubahalah proposal) was a form of trickery to delude the Muslims as whatever he did could influence a great number of Muslims in the country.
His lawyer Kamar Ainiah said under Islam a man was innocent until proven guilty and it was up to the accuser to bring forward four witnesses to prove his accusation.
To a question that Saiful had claimed that Anwar had sodomised him against his will and hence the matter should be considered as rape rather than fornication, Kamar Ainiah said, this was not logical as the former (Saiful) was much bigger and stronger than Anwar and should have been able to fight him off if that was so.
Cucu Tok Selampit: Yea Datuk Seri, you can report to all departments in Malaysia to gain popularity. Tomorrow you can lodge a report to ACA, the next day to Fire Brigade Department ... but for what? I know that you are fully aware that the Federal Court can overrule the Syariah Court's decision. So please stop your gimmick as Malaysia is not fully Islamic country as claimed by Imam Hadhari. You are also are not interested to make Malaysia as Islamic country. Then , why come out with this cheap gimmick?? So when you are going to accept my challenge to do "mubahalah"? Oh I forget, your mufti don't allowed you to that. The same mufti that against the "fatwa" of smoking is prohibited in Islam due to he is a smoker!! Sorry guys, I love ulamak, ustad and Tok Guru especially Tok Guru Datuk Nik Aziz, but I talk whatever I thought is right.

GEORGE TOWN (July 6, 2008) : Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng today described the federal government’s reduction of the state’s allocation from RM4.862 billion to RM1.452 billion without any consultation with the state as being "tantamount to economic sabotage". Lim said under the 8th Malaysia Plan (8MP), Penang was allocated RM6.152 billion or 3.1% of the country's total budget.
In the 9th Malaysia Plan (9MP), the state was allocated RM4.862 billion or 2.9% of the total budget. However, after the mid-term review of the 9MP, the allocation was slashed to RM1.452 billion or a mere 0.6% of the total 9MP budget.
He said it was an 80% reduction from the initial allocation in the 8MP.
“This is why we are dissatisfied and angry,” he said. “It is as though the federal government wants to sabotage the economy of Penang.”
The removal comprises RM2 billion for the monorail, RM1.5 billion for the Penang Outer Ring Road (PORR), RM1.1 billion for the Mengkuang dam expansion and RM100 million for other projects, including the Penang Hill railway upgrading.
Speaking at a press conference at his office today, Lim accused prime minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi of deliberately creating the situation to bring difficulties to Penangites.
Lim also said the maximum monthly income to qualify as a poverty case should be increased from RM800 to RM1,500 due to the economic conditions today.
The country’s poverty rate would then be increased from 3.1% to 24.3%, he stressed.
He also claimed the federal government’s figure of RM3,686 as the average monthly income of Malaysians in 2007 was incorrect and false.
He said the government had used mean income statistics instead of median income which is adopted internationally. The median income of the average Malaysian for 2007 was RM2,542, he noted.
Meanwhile, Second finance minister Tan Sri Mohamed Yackop today ticked off the Penang state government for its "obsession" with the Penang Outer Ring Road and monorail projects, and for harping on them.
"The world does not revolve around these two projects. The federal government has to deal with bigger things like running the country and battling the rising prices of things," he said after opening a National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia forum here.He said the federal government needs to consider the many uses of its funds and has many other responsibilities, -- not only the two deferred mega projects in Penang.
Cucu Tok Selampit: Penangite can praise Pak Lah for his concern. If he can do these to his own state people, what about other states? Are you think he even bother to focus on the effort to overcome all the problem we faced today? Bullshit! This man is too much!!
KUALA LUMPUR: Evidence allegedly linking Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to murdered Mongolian translator Altantuya Shaariibuu will be released in the next few days.
“The next evidence will come in the next few days. Just be patient. This is not the end. I just want to test the nerve and commitment of the Prime Minister,” said PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Cucu Tok Selampit: I think everybody had forgotten what Anwar promise us on Friday 04/07/2008 - "The next evidence will come in the next few days." This man is totally don't have any clue of what he has been talking. He just said what he want and promise everything under the sun, but in actual fact, he has not have any evidence against Najib. I hope he is not making joke to the "rakyat" of his promises to reduce oil price when he be on the top, IF he be the next PM. Let us watching his drama, because the "rakyat" had not give him a "King of Dramatist" title for nothing, right!
David McDonnell, Daily Mirror
Cucu Tok Selampit: I have seen him playing for Colombia and River Plate. Prolific forward and will be pain in the ass for our opponents.
